We were appointed main contractor to remove the failing South Aisle slate roof and replace with a terne coat stainless steel replacement roof covering from this Grade II listed building in Grimsby. This included fully over boarding the roof with new douglas fir boarding to provide a suitable base for the new roof. Following installation of the roof boarding, the aging lath and plaster ceiling was repaired in areas with new laths, then plastered using a lime plaster. Once this had dried sufficiently, the paintwork to the ceiling was overhauled, removing the flaking emulsion paint back to the lime plaster base, and re-painted with a clay based paint to improve breathability to the lime plaster.
